Céramiste française née en 1983 à Paris,
Esther Kiner vit et travaille actuellement à Bâle.

Elle aspire à une interprétation céramique non conventionnelle d’objets du quotidien, à la fois sculpturaux et utilitaires.

Ses pièces en grès sont façonnées dans la masse
à l’aide de fils métalliques, spatules ou scies électriques. Cette technique intuitive et vivante, impliquant l’extraction de la matière suscite une sensation de lâcher-prise.

Elle est fascinée d’une part par la simplicité
de l’architecture brutaliste, d’autre part par la rugosité et les couleurs des grands espaces alpins, sauvages et bruts. Ces deux univers sont le moteur de sa création.

Elle se concentre alors sur l’exploration de ce
qui peut être trouvé dans la fragilité de la nature
et de l’être humain, avec toutes leurs imperfections, leurs incohérences et leurs émotions.

La sobriété de ses objets crée une atmosphère intemporelle, elle transmet un sentiment de sérénité et suspend le tumulte de la vie quotidienne.

Born in Paris in 1983, Esther Kiner is a french ceramist that currently lives and works in Basel.

Her aim is to create unconventional ceramic interpretations of everyday objects that are both sculptural and utilitarian.

Her stoneware pieces are shaped in the body using metal wires, spatulas or electric saws. This intuitive and lively technique, which involves extracting the material, creates a feeling of letting go.

She is fascinated on the one hand by the simplicity of brutalist architecture, and on the other by the roughness and colours of the great alpine spaces, wild and raw. These two worlds are the driving force behind her work.

She concentrates on exploring what can be found in the fragility of nature and the human being, with all their imperfections, inconsistencies and emotions.

The sobriety of her objects creates a timeless atmosphere, conveying a sense of serenity and suspending the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
